Cans for Canoe

The Cans for Canoe Drive started in 2008 to help the Agassiz Harrison Community Services restock their shelves during the summer season. Unfortunately demand for their services is needed all throughout the year not just around the holiday season. With the help of our paddling guests, the Harrison Dragon Boat Regatta has collected hundreds of pounds worth of food over the years. We encourage our paddling guests to bring a non-perishable canned good and help us fill the canoe to the rim. The Fraser Valley Dragon Boat Club will donate 50 cents for every item collected. Lets fill it up.

FVDBC Junior Program

The FVDBC Junior Program provides an opportunity for all youth paddlers ages 13 to 18 to join in the rich history of dragon boating in a fun and friendly atmosphere. Participants enjoy camaraderie, physical activity, outdoor adventures and cultural experiences while developing new skills and new friendships.

Our juniors compete in a number of regattas every year including Concord Pacific Dragon Boat Festival and our own Harrison Dragon Boat Regatta. In years past we have also attended the DragonZone Junior Regatta in False Creek, the BC High School Dragon Boat Regatta held at Burnaby Lake and the annual Community Challenge that also takes place in Harrison Hot Springs.

FVDBC is proud to work with great clubs and programs like the Kiwanis Club of Sardis and ParticipACTION to help keep our program FREE to all that attend. With their continued support, along with donations from local businesses, we continue the development of healthy youths in our community.

Junior Bursary Program

Started in 2014 the Lois Boschman Memorial Bursary Program was launched to honour one of our fallen paddlers. Lois embodied everything that makes dragon boating fun and exciting. She was passionate, commanding and inspirational. All great qualities needed as a dragon boat caller. The bursaries are available to all paddlers enlisted in our Junior Dragon Boat Program that meet the criteria.

A 50/50 Draw and a Raffle Booth will be setup this year to help raise funds for our Junior Program and Bursary.

We do hope you will continue to support both these great programs.
